Sauerkraut/kimchi - bird flu cure?
Is sauerkraut and/or kimchi the cure for the bird flu? Of course not, but that's because cure is the wrong word.

Sauerkraut and kimchi are both good for you (popup) in the same way as yogurt. (popup) All 3 contain probioitics, good bacteria.

So true, they aren't cures, just like yogurt isn't a cure, but all 3 are good for your immune system. If I get sick from anything, I want a strengthened immune system.

It seems like common sense to want a strong immune system when fighting an infection such as the flu, but some journalists are trying to scare people away from food that will build their immune systems.

It's important to differentiate between something that's helpful and a scam. Eating sauerkraut and kimchi is healthy, and other suggestions need to be questioned.

1 Million Free and Legal Songs
You don't want to pay for music, but you don't want to break the law?
There are over a million FREE songs available to listen to online. This is where to find them many of them:

  • EC Brown has links to a huge list of sites with free music. Check it out.
  • Jamendo lets you download entire albums using BitTorrent or other P2P software. The music is in MP3 and/or Ogg format.
  • I found some great Bluegrass on Mandolin Cafe.
  • And there are a ton more sites listed here at Red Ferret.

With all this free music, only the RIAA can lose!

Limewire
Limewire a hugely successful P2P file sharing network that gets great reviews. The basic software is free, but a lot of companies try to charge for it. (Check the sponsor results on this Yahoo search). There is no reason to pay for this software. If you're looking for an upgrade to Limewire, check out Frostwire. According to their web site "FrostWire, although very much like LimeWire, will never offer a paid version or a subscription service for the download or use of the FrostWire application.". You can't beat that.

Of course, downloading and sharing music can be illegal, but there's plenty of free and legal content online. The media seems to only focus on what's illegal, which is understandable because that's also exciting.

Top Internet searches
Ever wonder what other people are interested in? There are several sites that show what people are searching for. They must edit the results, because none of results are words you can't say on broadcast TV.

Google and Yahoo are king:

These 2 are still kicking: Lycos and Ask (aka Ask Jeeves)

You can stop Spyware!

What's the best way to avoid Spyware? Prevention. But how can you do that without avoiding the internet???

SpywareBlaster

It works better than anything I've seen, and it's free. Instead of removing spyware, SpywareBlaster blocks spyware from installing. I also suggest occasionally running Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy just to be safe. Since I started using SpywareBlaster, I haven't found any spyware on my PC.

One thing to note, you will need to check for updates manually, but it's built into the software interface, so it's easy. There is a paid version that updates automatically.

You can find it on Download.com. Here's the link http://www.download.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022-10196637.html
